Make 2016 the year that you achieve everything you set out to. Here’s our 5 top tips to kick start the year and set you up for a successful 2016.
1. Get organised early
Use the first few weeks of the year when others are still on holiday and it’s a little quiet around the office to get organised. Tie up any loose ends from 2015 and make a plan (with goals) for 2016.
2. Use planning and productivity apps and websites
There are so many great tools to help you plan, get organised and stay on track, use them! Decide what is right for your work needs and set them up as part of #1. We’ve mentioned Trello a few times before because we love it and it works perfectly for event planning – check out our Annual Conference 2016 board, we’ve set up an entire conference board ready for you to copy.
3. Use event software to manage your events
Spreadsheets, email threads and manual registrations and abstract submissions are only going to slow you down. We’re not just saying this because we live and breathe event software, it is of course what we do, we are saying it because we know it will save you time and money, not to mention create an easy registrations process that your delegates will love.
4. Reflect and improve
Take time during your ‘Get organised early’ stage to take a long, hard look at your 2015 events. Read last year’s post-event review papers, they’re packed with valuable information that should be revisited. Reflect on what didn’t work, why it didn’t work and how you can improve it. Look at what really worked and how it can be applied again, but this time refine and make it even better.
5. Keep on track
Don’t spend these valuable few weeks getting organised and making plans only to lose sight during the year. Check in with your original plan each month to make sure you’re still on track.
Make 2016 awesome, have fun, experiment with new tools and make your events better than ever before! Good luck!
